What do you think about Nintendo Lite?
The Nintendo DS Lite is a dual-screen handheld game console manufactured and developed by Nintendo. It is a brighter, slimmer and redesign for more lightweight of the Nintendo DS, aimed to appeal to broader commercial audiences and to be aesthetically sleeker redesigned while taking styling cues from the Game Boy Advance SP. Nintendo Lite was announced on January 26, 2006, more than a month before its initial release in Japan on March 2, 2006 due to overwhelming demand for the original Nintendo Lite model.
Nintendo Lite has been released in Australia, Singapore, Europe, New Zealand, North America and defined regions in the Middle East, South America and East Asia. As of September 30, 2008, according to Nintendo, sales of the Nintendo Lite Console have reached 65.51 million units worldwide.
Feature of the Nintendo Lite:
Capable of receiving Wi-Fi signals from other Nintendo DS Lite systems, the original Nintendo DS, Nintendo’s Wii, and Wi-Fi access points. WEP encrypted and unencrypted networks are supported. WPA encryption is not supported.
Colors of the Nintendo Lite:
For launch in Japan, Nintendo revealed the color schemes of the Nintendo DS Lite set: Ice Blue, Crystal White and Enamel Navy. In the region on July 20, 2006, Nintendo released a Nintendo Lite Noble Pink version and Jet Black and following with Purple Splash versions on September 2, 2006. On May 30, 2007 Nintendo announced two new colors for Japan: Nintendo Lite Gloss Silver and Metallic Rose, which were launched on June 23, 2007.
In Australia, the Nintendo Lite was only available in Polar White at launch. The Jet Black (Onyx) color was released On September 21, 2006. The Pink Nintendo DS Lite would be released on November 2, 2006, alongside Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends. Nintendo Australia stated that the Nintendo Lite Ice Blue. Nintendo DS Lite color would be released starting on July 19, 2007 for limited amount of time. On May 30, 2008, Nintendo Australia announced two more colors available for a limited time only; the Nintendo Ds Lite Black and Red/Black of .
In North America, the Nintendo DS Lite was only available in Polar White for the region at launch. Following with Onyx (Jet Black) and Coral Pink (Noble Pink) were released in North America on September 12, 2006. On August 21, 2007, a Crimson/Black Nintendo Lite was released in a bundle with Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day!. The Cobalt/Black or Nintendo DS Lite Black released on February 10, 2008 in North America. In June 2008, the Metallic Rose Nintendo Lite was also released and following with the Metallic Silver Nintendo Lite was released in North America on September 7, 2008.
In Europe, a black version (named “Nintendo Lite Smart Black“) was available at launch, a color unique to the region at the time. The Coral Pink (Noble Pink) edition was released On October 27, 2006. A silver (Platinum) Nintendo DS Lite was released On 12 October 2007 then. Following with three new colors green, red and turquoise were released On June 13, 2008 in Europe.
Update News of Nintendo Lite:
On November 25, 2008, Nintendo confirmed that the Ice Blue color would be available on November 28 for Black Friday. It is bundled with Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day! and a custom carrying case. It will be bundled only for a limited time.
